Flaming for Jesusis a LGBTQ+ led nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing the spiritual and mental well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals affected by religious trauma and discrimination.Rise Aboveis a safe space where individuals can be themselves and explore the intersection of their LGBTQ+ identity with their beliefs, spirituality, and/or faith(s), without fear of judgment or discrimination.At Rise Above We C.A.R.E.With a mission rooted in compassion, authenticity, and understanding,Rise Above,Createssafe,Affirmingspaces thatRespectthe intersecting identities &Experienceswithin the LGBTQ+ community— we strive to foster a nurturing environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to embrace their true selves. EmpoweringTravelersto heal, connect, andRise Aboveadversity through peer support, educational workshops, and community-building activities.Members ofRise Aboveare referred to asTravelers, as we are all on the journey toward healing, understanding, and acceptance together. Led by aTravel Guide, a self-identifying LGBTQ+ Mental Health Peer Specialist with shared lived experiences, we promote healing by providing a supportive environment for individuals to process their trauma, rebuild their self-esteem, and develop a positive sense of identity.People choose to travel withRise Abovefor various reasons, including finding solace, healing and growth, finding support, theological discourse, and connecting with others who have shared experiences.By offering emotional, spiritual, and mental support, we create an inclusive community where everyone feels seen, supported, accepted, valued and empowered toRise Above.
