La Peña Cultural Centerhas been a central site for Latinx, Caribbean, and Indigenous diasporic communities in the Bay Area since 1975.Who We Are:La Peña is dedicated to preserving and celebrating cultural traditions, showcasing interdisciplinary creative works, and supporting grassroots social justice movements alongside artists, activists, and allies. Our LegacyRooted in the tradition of "peñas" that emerged in South America during the 1960s-70s as spaces of music, food, and political solidarity, we have upheld this legacy for nearly fifty years. La Peña remains the sole surviving "peña" and continues to challenge dominant narratives while amplifying marginalized voices.
