Organizing an event

Verify your financial information through Stripe

Eventbrite uses Stripe  to verify and process payments in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In order to pay you promptly and securely, our onboarding process has two steps. First, we collect “Know Your Customer” (KYC) information in your organization profile, and then we collect your bank account details. KYC procedures require Eventbrite to collect certain information, based on where your bank account is located and your organization type, to verify your identity before we send your payouts. The information you provide is securely sent to Stripe for review. If Stripe needs more information, you’ll receive a notification in your Eventbrite account. You must provide accurate and complete information to avoid payout delays.

Eventbrite collects your financial information

Complete your organization profile

If you host paid events, Eventbrite requires you to complete your organization profile to collect the required KYC information for each country you operate in. Before you start, make sure you know which organization type to select:

Individual—An Individual or sole proprietorship is an unincorporated business owned by one individual. The individual has sole responsibility for making decisions, receives all the profits, claims all losses, and does not have separate legal status from the business. If you are an individual or sole proprietor, you should select “individual” as the “Organization Type” during onboarding.

Company Creators onboarding as a “Company” have three options: Corporation, Partnership, or Sole Proprietorship.

  • Corporation - A Corporation is a separate legal entity. It can enter into contracts and own property in its own name, separately and distinctly from its owners. When forming a corporation, the owners transfer money, property, or services to the corporation in exchange for shares. If you are a Corporation, you should select “Company” as the “Organization Type” and “Corporation” as the “Business structure”.

  • Partnership - A Partnership is an association or relationship between two or more individuals, corporations, trusts, or partnerships that join together to carry on a trade or business. Like a sole proprietorship, a partnership is easy to form. If you are a Partnership you should select “Company” as the “Organization type” and “Partnership” as the “Business structure”

  • Sole proprietorship - A sole proprietorship is an unincorporated business owned and operated by one individual, where there is no legal distinction between the owner and the business. The owner is personally responsible for all debts, obligations, and liabilities incurred by the business.

Non-profit — Creators onboarding as a “Non-Profit” have two options: Registered Charity or Non-profit organization.

  • Registered charity - A Registered Charity is a charitable organization, public foundation, or private foundation registered with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). A registered charity is issued a Registration Number once approved. It is exempt from paying income tax, and can issue tax receipts for donations it receives. If you are a Registered Charity, you should select “Non-profit” as the “Organization type” and "Registered Charity” as the “Business structure”.

  • Non-Profit organization - Non-Profit Organizations are associations, clubs, or societies that are not charities and are organized and operated exclusively for social welfare, civic improvement, pleasure, recreation, or any other purpose except profit. If you are a Non-Profit Organization, you should select “Non-profit” as the “Organization type” and "Non-Profit Organization” as the “Business structure”.

Special organization types If your organization is located in Canada and is a government entity or publicly traded company, select company on the organization profile and add your information. Then, contact Eventbrite Support to complete your Stripe verification.
