Set up "Tap to pay" for sales at the door

If you want to sell tickets at your event using the Eventbrite Organizer App, set up Tap to pay to process credit card payments. Tap to pay lets you collect payment information from a contactless payment method, like a debit card or pay app, with just the Organizer App. If you meet the requirements, you can activate Tap to pay by downloading the Eventbrite Organizer app and going to Payment methods.

NOTE: This feature is in limited release. Currently, it's only available on certain devices for organizers in the US.

Requirements for "Tap to pay"

Tap to pay is currently only available for users who meet the following requirements:

Device requirements

Android

Android 10 and up
The Eventbrite Organizer app version 9.14 or later
Near-field communication (NFC), bluetooth, and location tracking are turned on

iOS

iPhone XS or later (iPads are not supported at this time)
iOS 16.0 or later
The Eventbrite Organizer app version v10.5.2 or later
Bluetooth and location tracking are turned on

Event requirements

Your event uses Eventbrite Payment Processing.
Your currency is USD.
You must have a payout method selected for the event.

Payment requirements

Tap to pay supports the following payment methods:

Contactless cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover
Near-field communication (NFC) wallets: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay

Account requirements

You're an organizer with a payout method in the United States.
Your account isn't missing any financial information (bank account details, tax information, etc).

To check if you've submitted all the required financial information, log in to your Eventbrite account and go to Finance. If your account is missing anything, there will be a form to fill out. After you complete that form, your account will be eligible for Tap to pay.

If you've already provided all the necessary financial information, you can review it by selecting Organizer profile.

NOTE: This process helps Eventbrite protect you and your attendees from potential fraud.

Using "Tap to pay"

Activate "Tap to pay."

Tap the menu button in the top left.
Select Device settings.
Select Payment methods.
Activate Tap to pay.
Accept the requested permissions.

This feature requires permission to access location tracking, bluetooth, and NFC. Activating Tap to pay will take up to a minute to complete.

If this option doesn't appear, confirm you meet the requirements for this feature.

Take payments at your event

When you sell tickets at your event, select Tap to pay as the payment method. Then hold the attendee's payment method to your device to take payment.

A confirmation screen will appear to confirm the transaction is complete.
