Al, friends & family: plays we all write & perform
We started by writing plays for the family christmas events to make people laugh...and then we invited our neighbours along who cooked with us and laughed some more. And then some of their friends and musicians joined in - and pretty soon, we found we had a group of people, who wrote stuff, performed in amateur theatre, painted or did woodwork at the Vic and other places around town, and to be frank, we didn't know that so many of us doing data wrangling and ICT management or engineering actually liked, or wanted, to write stuff and lark around. It seems that most people are naturally good at story telling, and interested to perform their stories, so we should have had a place to tell stories in writing, in painting and performance, and stuff like that, a long time ago!
We had a few music nights with some performances over at Glebe, and a friend from Singapore brought soups for us, and another, from Fiji, cooked curry for us. Then we did a trip overseas and some more people joined us. We've got stories to tell now, from all over the world, about what life was like in a village before we had cars, or how to make fermented bean dish if you live in a hot place, or how difficult it is if you only speak german and just want a few sausages and eggs for breakfast at Circular Quay. Why not join us, and add to our stories :)
