My Spirited Child
My Spirited Child was founded by Rebecca Challoner. Rebecca is neurodivergent herself, as are her 2 children.
Rebecca was fed up with the lack of support and information available for neurodivergent people.
Initially My Spirited Child was just a website, but was full of articles and information to help people.
Then slowly as My Spirited Child built up more and more readers, we realised there was a huge need for support and information.
We needed to find as many ways as possible to get that support to our neurodivergent community and their families, carers and professionals.
In January 2017 we set to work on creating Conferences, as another way of getting information to parents, carers and educators.
The conferences are great! They’re so much fun and they’ve had awesome feedback from the people who’ve attended so far.
At each conference we have been lucky enough to get absolutely fantastic speakers and exhibitors. We love getting to meet loads of people and everyone leaves having had a great time, made friends and learnt loads of new information that will help them and their loved ones.
2018 and 2019 were also great years, as the Conferences and events grew bigger and better.
On top of all of this, 2019 saw the release of our DVD on Understanding ADHD, which has had fantastic feedback. Also in 2019 we were really proud to run the first Victorian ADHD Conference, which was a fantastic event and much needed within the community.
We had 500 people attend and the event sold out.
Finally that year we also ran our first Seminar tour in different regional locations on ADHD and Demand Avoidance
