LARA PLATMAN of Photofeature
Award winning Photographer and Author of 4 books (Art Workers Guild, 125 Years’, ‘Harris Tweed, from land to street’, ‘Spirit of Land, the distilleries of Scotland’ and ‘Through the Night, the passion of motor sport’). Lara has regular work with various editorial lifestyle and photographic outlets. She appears frequently on BBC Radio Gloucestershire, is a member of the Guild of Motoring Writers and a Brother of the Art Workers Guild.
Lara is an ambassador for Leica Camera AG and a Getty Images contributor.
Her photographs can be found in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
Currently Lara is researching the fast ladies of the ‘between the war years’ such as Mildred Bruce and Fay Taylor, and following on from her publication on Harris Tweed, continues her passion for ensuring the skills of artists and craftsmen inspire a new generation in this digital age.
Over 10 years ago Lara fully restored her 1964 Series 2a Land Rover, although she uses this as her daily car, she holds a motor racing licence and a motorbike licence.
Lara loves to share her passion of photography and has taught students from children to adults, from beginners to professionals. These days, Lara appreciates that at most events phones are used - but even with that - the photos could be far better if the user only knew how to get the basics sorted out. Bending knees and composition. Being patient and the precise moment - all very important to create a gorgeous image that is worthy of a wall.
