The idea for Travelusion started thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic as travel restrictions put a halt to tourism, putting a lot of historical sites and communities at financial risk, and taking away the pleasure of exploring the world from travelers all over the world. Virtual tourism is the perfect alternative to these obstacles bringing people and places together from the comfort and safety of your home. Travelusion is also part of a wider movement within the humanities that advocates for the digitisation of history and our cultural legacies. In the age of technology, heritage, art, and culture are at risk of suffering a disconnect. There is an active crisis in the field of the humanities and the arts, with educational institutions, heritage sites, and culture being destroyed or forgotten. However, we believe this is the legacy of mankind, and we should use new technologies to help us appreciate it, preserve it, and connect with it.
