Green Scene Forest School
Green Scene Forest School: Environmental Education Service Limited
Green Scene Forest School's overall aim is: “Helping to improve the lives of vulnerable people in an outdoor setting across the life Span”
The natural environment, woodland, parks and open spaces provide a wealth of learning opportunities, increasing the well-being of individuals and promoting recovery after illness or injury. They can advance positive attitudes, build self-esteem and help to reduce stress and challenging behaviour.
Green Scene achieves this by delivering training; involving environmental education, running Forest Schools, bushcrafts, environmental arts and crafts, outdoor cooking or traditional practical conservation projects (woodland management, coppicing, allotment work). Green Scene also teaches traditional crafts such as green woodworking, woodcarving, whittling and walking stick making. All activities are designed to build up skills, confidence and self-esteem, incorporating transferable life skills and embedded learning. Green Scene also delivers blue - green and eco therapy sessions incorporating the above.
Green Scene aims to provide a training service in partnership with organisations such as local authorities, NHS, community groups, social enterprises, schools and private business.
The main customers will include adults (some with mental health issues, learning difficulties or behavioural issues); family groups; vulnerable and at risk children, teenagers and adults.
Green Scene Forest School is currently working in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council and Inspire: Culture | Learning | Libraries and is funded by The Education Skills Funding Agency to deliver Community and Family Learning Courses. Forest School, outdoor cooking and carving courses under the theme of Health & Wellbeing. This is for family groups and adults with learning difficulties, disabilities or mental health issues.
